Some of the photos in this landscape series were taken in portions of the Sierra Madres mountains. The long-needled Pine are extremely tall (Oaxaca Pine I think), have enormous pine cones about six inches long, four inches wide, and are the prime tree species growing at the top of the mountains. There are a few detailed photos of them in the Trees series.
The country outside of the cities is unexpected - at times it seemed like we were up north in the Rocky Mountains with fresh cooler air, and terrain is similar in some areas.
